Today Alex and I decided to edit the video one last time before submission tomorrow. This I feel has benefited us because it means that we can listen to our feedback that was given yesterday and it means that we can make those last minute corrections to the video before handing it in. We added some cross disolves to make the video flow more and so the video does not jump. I suggested that we have a zoom in and out on the last scene and we added this in to the video and it looks a lot better and stronger. We also sorted out the lip sync issues that came up when we were given feedback.

second cut of video
today we showed our second cut of the music video to the class. The class liked the video and they praised the narrative and use of camera shots for the video. The only issue is a few scenes were out of sync which I and my group will correct for the final deadline which is Friday. We also want to change some transitions into scenes to make it flow better.
website development
Today I developed the home page of my website. I felt that the website was a bit plain and needed more on the home page. I have added the working slideshow to the home page. Also I have added images of the group's ancillary tasks to show that they can be bought from the website. I have added a lot of text to the home page to show the target audience what each item is on the home page. I showed the group this and they feel that this website follows the conventions of a music website and that the style of the band is evident in the website through the house style.
Mousemat development
I have been working on a mousemat as an ancillary task and I these are the different stages of the mousemat.
This is the first draft of the mouse mat. I showed this firstly to the group and they all disliked this and said the images did not work in the black background. They all said that it looks very plain and dull and different from all of the other ancillary products which makes it a bad product. I showed this to the target audience and from feedback they all said that it was very plain and it needs something to make it more appealing as a mouse mat.
This is the second draft of the mouse mat. I have taken note of the feedback and I have changed the images to make sure they blend in with the black background. When I showed the group they said it is progress but it still needs something to make it appelaing to the audience. They said it still has nothing to show it is linked to all of the other products. I took all of this on board whilst developing this product.
This it the final mouse mat. I showed this to the group and they all loved it and they all said how much better it is and how the design is more appealing and it links in with all of the other products created. They liked the layout and said it looks like a conventional mouse mat for a band. I showed this to some of the target audience and from feedback they all said how good it looks and they like the use of colours as it is consistant with all of the other products.
Ancillary task guitar sticker development
Over the past few weeks I have been working on the official Fray guitar sticker and I will upload the progress I have made.
This is the final version of the guitar and pitch sticker. I showed this to the group first and all of them praised this and said this follows the conventions of a guitar and pitch sticker. They also said how it follows the same colours and style as all of the other ancillary products created. Once I showed this to the target audience they all praised this.

This is the second draft. Again the feedback was that it was dull and plain and the group again said that it does not follow the style that all of the other products we have created.

first video shoot 7th February 2011
Today we went up to Central London to shoot for the music video. We first planned ahead the shots that we needed through storyboarding and then we went to shoot it. Me and nathan too turns in filming and directing on the day.
storyboarding
these are the images of our storyboard which we based our music video on. I feel that storyboarding did help me and my group because every time we were shooting the video we had a plan and direction on what we are doing and where we are going.

Website development
Today I have developed my home page. I firstly put the logos of sponsors at the bottom of the page to make the website look more conventional for a band website. The next thing I worked was the slide show that was not working at first so I had re designed the slide show and this time it has worked. It has some on location snapshots to give the target audience a taster of our video which is a conventional aspect for a band website.

Editing of new footage
We went to Erith to shoot the new filler shots of the video and when we got back I went to edit it with nathan and Alex. Nathan started to edit how it will start and I personally did not like what he planned. He wanted to open with Kyle putting the poster up, then going to Jack, then cut to the sea and then cut to me and then cut to him throwing the leaflet. I did not like this and I suggested that we first show Kyle attempting to put the poster up and then we will have him walking to Jack, then have him walking to me, then cut to Jack where he says no and walks off, then cut to me where I say no and Kyle walks off. This looked a lot more effective and the group all agreed.
Next Alex and I edited the climax where Kyle was at the pier and he threw the paper in the water. I decided to use the pan shot going round Kyle and then we will have him throw the leaflet into the sea.

Last minute filler shooting
Today when the group and I were editing the video we still had a gap of 30 seconds. We all discussed on how to fill this gap and then I suggested that we could fill it by spending one hour that lesson filming in Erith pier. I said we could have Kyle handing out more posters to people and no one accepting it. The group liked the idea so we all went to erith to shoot these shots. The first shot that I filmed was Kyle looking at the sea and then he threw the leaflet in the sea. I directed this and told him that I would pan around him to get a better view of his facial expressions. The next scene that was filmed was of Kyle handing the leaflet to jack and he just ignores it. The next scene was Kyle handing the leaflet to me and I again ignore it. We also after had a shot of Kyle attempting tp put a poster up but he is not succesful and this shows that it will not work.
This is me using the steady cam to shoot the filler shot in the location.

Website development
I still had one page to develop and that was the images page. I wanted this page to have behind the scenes images from our video shoot. I wanted to show the atmosphere and overall feel of the music video that is developing. I wanted around 25 images for this page of the website.
This is how I am makign sure all of the images are the correct size. I am putting them all in a table so they are all the correct size.
This is how the first line of images will look.
website progression
This is the home page. I want to put the media partners in the bottom of the page to give recognition to them.
This is our lyrics page and the page follows the same mese en scene that is created in the other products.
Editing
Kyle and I decided to stay at lunch time and after school till 6 o clock to edit and finalize the ending of the video. The current ending was a zoom in on Kyle and a zoom out showing everyone left. I personally did not like that idea and I suggested that we show kyle and the group in a mid shot and then we use a fade to show the group is not there and we tried that. Once we finished we were very happy with the ending and the other group members also liked the idea.
More editing
Today I wanted to fill the gap where a 30 second sequence was needed. I decided to put quick 2 second shots of the band members playing. I firstly edited and cut down each clip and I put it together. There was a total of 6 clips I wanted and I spent 2 hours cutting them down. Next I decided to put them together in order of the instrument playing in the soundtrack. I then added a transition the wipe disolve to keep the consistancy of the whole music video. This was effective and when I showed the other group members the loved the idea.

Editing
Today Nathan and I were editing the video. We experimented with the software and we learned new skills. The video footage in my opinion needed some zooms in and out and I suggested that we should have a range of different zooms in our music video. I experimented and found out how to zoom in and out and make the camera pan with the software. I feel that the pan and zoom shot works well for the scene with kyle. I also think that the shot where the camera is quite low and is looking up at Kyle is also effective because I decided to use a slow zoom into him. Nathan and I also liked the idea of using a slow zoom in for the band shot.
